Friday 31st Everytime I Breathe

Mornin' bloggers.
Last night Naomi & Cristy stayed with Levi. Esther/Joe rested.
This is what God showed Esther this early morn.

Even though its early, think back (some have to think way back :0 )
when we were little we would sing, "Jesus loves me"? Got the tune? Yeah, lots of memories surface, right?

Well Esther's memories have been evoked with a vivid, real memory. When Jesus was crucified and Mary had to watch her lil' baby hurting beyond words, literally breathing pain everytime he took a breathe. THEN she held him, rocked him and cradled him as all mothers do when their lil' babies are hurting. Bring on the tears Jesus, soften our hearts for your message. Yes Lord.!

Well Esther's so humbled by what God has already done with Levi's hurt and she knows you have been too. Jesus gave up His son with all the LOVE he has for Levi, for her, for you. Be encouraged by that.!

What to do with that encouragement? With that LOVE? It is totally up to you.
Do you need to mend relationships or make relationships? While we all wait on the Lord to manifest himself in Levi's body, mind, spirit what are you doing for Jesus.? Tell others of how he has performed miracles in Levi's life, tell others you are sorry, tell others I forgive you. Love requires action.

Thank you again doesnt seem enough. Thank you.

Thurs. 30th Update

Last night Joe and Esther stayed with Levi. He had a rough night. Trying to get off sedation is a roller coaster of a process. Pray for Levi's peace and calmness as he transitions. Cristy and Naomi took the morning shifts. Something Esther and Joe shared is that God kept telling them, "Everyone is fighting a battle". Regardless if its work, family, social, emotional. A song that has been helping today is "What a wonderful world by Willie Nelson". Thanks to you all for your commitment, time, deeds, and love.

Wednesday Oct.29th Control, Alt,Delete

Good morning bloggers.
Cristy stayed with Levi last night. He opened his eyes 3 different times and move his head b/f again! So amazing.
Esther, Joe and Naomi rested. Today there is a change in the sedation medicine to easier regulate its removal. He was put back on it because of yesterday. Esther & Joe said that Levi opened his eyes some more today. So much improvement. Don't you agree?
Confirmation that I received today is about when Paul and Silas were beaten and jailed. They opened their mouths and prayed and sang to God. Ultimately, the jailer and his family were brought to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Acts 16: 16-34

Here is where Control, Alt, Delete come to play. These are very familiar words to us all and I might venture to say we like to do all three of those things at one time or another.

*We are not in control, only the Creator is. [pray for the Lord's continued control over Levi, doctors, nurses, us]
*We can alternate our response to Levi's situation. [by praying, singing just like Paul & Silas' example]
*Delete is solely up to Jesus. Matt. 15:13 [pray for the Lord to delete everything He did not plant in Levi's body]

As I might bore you some day with all my thoughts, please know that I am not a know it all, I run to the Lord just like you. I am learning soooo much through Levi's situation. Thank you Lord for creating us to need each other.

Tues. 28th "Lets stay together"

Friends you guys have been so faithful to pray, to care, to visit, and Ijust heard a song by one of my favorite artist. Tina Turner talks about staying together and loving each other whether times are good, happy, or sad. It is exactly what you guys are doing. Thank you.
I am not sure but I think she is one of Levi's favorite's too. ha/ha

Heres the update since last night and for this morning
  • Joe stayed with Levi last night. Esther, Naomi and Cristy rested. (whatever)
  • Results of CT scan trying to identify infection found that it is not in the lungs, heart, abdomen. They believe the infection to be in the wounds.
  • Levi has been taken off sedation. He moved his head back and forth some last night and even this morning. Praise the Lord! They will continue to give pain medicine but want to wake him up. The doctor said the better agitated Levi gets, the better it is for him. WOW-we have permission to agitate. YIPEEE!
I came over to Delilah's (another fav. aunt of Levi's) and Rachel shared a special song that has been ministering to her through this time in Levi's life. It is perfect. How God is, right? Its Psalms 8:3-4
3 When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
4 what is man that you are mindful of him,
the son of man that you care for him?

God is the initiator of us, of this world. He is not on the defense. Praise God. Thank you Jesus!

Monday Oct.27th The doc is back in town

Hello to all you wonderful, caring, people. Thank you for what you are doing everyday to help Levi fight this battle. He is still in ICU.
Dr. Franklin is back and requested a CT scan. Levi's fever keeps spiking little by little. Naomi (Levi's aunt from Houston) stayed with him through the night. Cristy and Esther came in this morning to change shifts.
What I heard this morning that really, practically, toughed my heart on Beth Moore's site was this. The first question that God asked his disciples was, "What is it that you seek (want)? Questions are part of relationships. Whatever questions you have, God honors them (Psalm 62). Whatever fears you have, God wants to hear them (Psalm 46).

Esther, God be with you sis. Not a minute goes by that I don't think of you. You are equipped, you are called, and you are not alone. I love you.

Sunday 26th "The Lord's Day"

No other day is like Sunday. Don't you agree? Meet the Lord today where you live.

Mark and Monique (cousin) stayed with Levi through the night. Cristy and her mom, Esther, Naomi, Rachel went to the hotel to rest. What a blessing to have friends and family. The Steelman's can never re-pay you for your all your acts of love. Levi wouldn't want you to scarifice for him but we aren't asking him.

Levi had a good night, no action taken nor do they anticipate any today. Dr.Franklin will be back on Monday. The nurses got a kick out of the blog yesterday about Levi being an Aggie. Pray for them. They need strength, wisdom, and love too. They are selfless in their job.

Sunshine on Sat.25th

Good morning. Joe (Dad) stayed with Levi through the night. This morning Esther and Rachel and Cristy came in for 2Nd shift. Dr.Franklin (trauma doctor) is out of town for the weekend so they don't suspect any major changes. I hope you know that God has performed millions of miracles since his accident. The human body is so detailed and intricate that God has breathed life into every single part of his body. I am sorry but that just makes me insanely grateful and I want to scream and shout. Hallelujah! Not to mention the miracles He has performed in all the viewers personal lives.

Esther requested 2 new nurses because one was a RED RAIDER and one O.U. and the nurses were trying to get Levi to bleed "red" but Esther assured them that Levi only bleeds "maroon"!!! Gig 'em Aggies
Levi's doing good. How wonderful! How marvelous!
This morning the head RN told Esther she doesn't know how lucky she is that Levi is doing so well. We know that it's God's Mighty hand at work. Keep praying, keep praises. We have a story to tell to the nations!

Evening News of Friday, Oct. 24th

Hello all.
7pm, Esther called to report that Levi's left arm was put into a plastic arm cast (that was made specifically for his arm) to immobilize it. So that it can heal itself. She said, "He is looking more like himself!" If you ask Christy who he looks like she says, "Elvis".
He is still in ICU. Please continue to pray. Thank you for your support.
Good evening and good night.

Stateline Tribune article

"Levi Steelman's plane went down last weekend in Silverton. Levi was fortunate to have been seen going down and had a quick response to the crash site. It is my understanding that he is still in critical condition and was severly injured. He is in the hospital in Amarillo.
Our prayers are needed for this young mand and his family. May God bless you all and give you strength in this time of need.
On the internet, go to levisteelman.blogspot.com to keep up with his condition. The family is keeping it up on a daily basis. The blog also allows everyone to leave messages for the family."

Thank you, Deana for the very tasetfully discreet, yet informative article!! We appreciate your respect!!

Thurs. 23rd

Good morning! To confirm Robyn's comment "NO SURGERY" for Levi yesterday due to other life threatening patients. Your prayers were not in vain because God's word will not be void. Amen.
Weita (Esther's mom) and Christy stayed with Levi through the night. Today surgery is scheduled for 8:20 am. Esther asked if we would also pray for Dr. Franklin (trauma surgeon) and ICU nurses. They are tired and need supernatural strength to care for all their patients. The song God gave me this morning is "I will call upon the Lord..."
Father we come in agreement this morning with our hands stretched out to the heavens, humbly asking the blood of Jesus to cover Levi, Dr. Franklin, other doctors and nurses, in the Powerful Name of Jesus. Amen.

No News...

haven't heard anything yet guys! They know how to post, so I am sure they will post something from there soon. (hint hint amarillo)

Your beloveds need you now........

So I have been looking at pictures of Levi all day and hearing one of my favorite songs in my head the whole time.
I changed the words and made it a prayer for you all. There is a link to the utube video at the bottom so you can hear the true version. I love all of you and thank you for letting me be a part of this. My heart is overwhelmed to think about the awesomeness that is going to come out of this all.

I WILL LIFT MY EYES
By Bebo Norman
God, my God, I cry out
Your beloveds need You now
God, be near
calm their fears
and take their doubts
Your kindness is what pulls them up
Your love is all that draws them in
Help them lift their eyes to the Maker
of the mountains they can't climb
Help them lift their eyes to the Calmer
of the oceans raging wild
Help them lift their eyes to the Healer
of the hurt they hold inside
Help them lift their eyes, lift their eyes to You
God, my God,
let mercy sing
her melody over them
and God, right here
all they bring is all of them
Your kindness is what pulls them up
Your love is all that draws them in
Help them lift their eyes to the Maker
of the mountains they can't climb
Help them lift their eyes to the Calmer
of the oceans raging wild
Help them lift their eyes to the Healer
of the hurt they hold inside
Help them lift their eyes, lift their eyes to You
'Cause You are and You were
and You will be forever
the Lover we need to save him
'Cause You fashioned the earth
and You hold it together, God
so hold them now
Help them lift their eyes to the Maker
of the mountains they can't climb
Help them lift their eyes to the Calmer
of the oceans raging wild
Help them lift their eyes to the Healer
of the hurt they hold inside
Help them lift their eyes,
lift their eyes to You
We will lift our eyes, lift our eyes to You
God, my God, I cry out
Your beloveds need You now

Prayer Chains/Prayer Requests

All, there is no doubt in my mind that Levi is being sustained & healed by the hundreds of prayers said on his behalf. I thought it would be neat to show how far and how many prayer requests have been made on Levi's behalf. Please post the specific churches (please include towns/states) or prayer groups that are praying for Levi's recovery. Even Levi's multiple physicians/surgeons/specialists are in awe of his recovery. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Levi is being healed by our Father from the prayers we've said for Levi.

[ a little background...I am one of Levi's aunts on his mom's side.]

Comments and Blogs

This is for people who are not quite computer savvy.
A blog is what we are using to update the family. Its kind of like we are writing a book with different chapters.
The comments are left by the readers, who of course read the chapters and want to leave..well, comments.
Only the family can be bloggers because they now what is going on right now.
To leave a comment:
  1. Go to the bottom of a 'chapter' -section that is posted, and click on the little word comment. this will make another page come up.
  2. Type in what you want everyone to read.
  3. Don't forget to sign your name so we will know who it is from.
  4. Look down the page and it has a section that says Choose your identity.
  5. Look a little further down and click on annonymous. (if you know what to do at this point-i.e. enter an email address that will work with blogger, then this post is not directed at you)this will keep you from having to worry about that part.
  6. Then click on publish and your comment will be put on the page with everyone else's.

I have no problem with anyone contacting me, i just don't want to make people wait if I am unavailabe. If anyone has questions still, please email me robyn216@hotmail.com .

Yhanks for all the love you have shown!!!

We see God's hand at work!
To clarify the earlier post, the filter was to help prevent the major blood clots, but can still allow smaller clots to enter through the filter but hopefully prevent major damage or stroke. Out of surgery, and Franklin ( Trauma doctor) is pleased with what he's seen. He does have a couple of bleeds, but was not needed to be re-packed. Have not heard from Murray (specialist) pertaining to the filter.
Dr. Hans (orthopedist) came in this morning and said his hand looks good and has pretty good blood flow/ circuation.

Dr. Murray went in for surgery at around 11:30 am and worked on the filter by the kidney. We haven't heard back about the filter just yet.

Dr. Franklin will go back in Wednesday for further evaluation on the abdomen.

The doctors have said that he should not have made it at all and the good thing going for him is that he is young and his heart is strong! Keep praying and thank you for everything.

2nd surgery

Esther said he had a good night. He is going to have another surgery at 11:30 am tx time. The drs are going to open his abdomen up and take the packing out from around his organs. They are going to look for the bleeding also. They are going to go up through his leg and put in a filter ( looks like a bird cage) around an artery ( i was a little unclear on this part) near his kidneys or liver. It will let regular blood flow continue while cathcing blood clots and preventing them from going to his lungs and/or heart. They were also going to put a wire up to his heart. ( not sure why on that). He is still in surgery as far as i know right now. He was stable enough to have this done in an operating room instead or icu. But he is still in very bad shape. The dr has said if there was something worse than critical they would put this label on levi. This is a very risky procedure also. Thats all I know for now.

Sunday

This is the information I recieved on sunday.
Luke said the drs said he needed another surgery.
The drs weren't sure if they were going to do it tonight or monday morning.
More family is coming in and people are finally taking turns going to the hotel to sleep.

from the begining...

I was there while he was in surgery until about 1 in the morning. This is my account as accurately as possible.

On saturday the 18th, Levi crashed his plane around 3:00 tx time. He went right into surgery.
The drs were very pleased with how well he did in surgery. They didn't think they would be able to work that long. They were happy they were able to fix the broken arms and legs because they were all open wounds and by fixing them they were able to cut down on the risk of infection. His vital signs were good throughout surgery. He was moved into ICU and the family was able to go see him.
